match pairings

Players in both singles and pairs tournaments will be matched against other players from within their golf County Union and allocated 2 home and 2 away matches. Matches will be drawn at random by the organisers which means that away matches may be anywhere within your County Union. Players will be notified of their match pairings prior to the start of the tournament.

In some cases it may not be possible to allocate 2 home and 2 away matches. For example if there are a disproportionatly high number of players entering from one particular club in a given County, players from that club may be allocated more than 2 home matches.

Pairs Matches

Players in the pairs tournaments do not need to belong to the same club as each other. However during registration each pair must nominate one club to be their home club and all home matches will be played at the nominated club.

Withdrawals

Whilst all players will be allocated 4 match pairings at the start of the tournament, it is inevitable that some players may need to withdraw from the tournament due to unforeseen changes in personal circumstances or injury etc. Where possible, match pairings may be re-arranged to account for withdrawels to ensure all players get to complete 4 matches.

However there is no guarentee that it will be possible to arrange replacement opponents in the event of withdrawals, particularly in the later stages of the event and some players may end up with less than 4 match allocations. In this event, players scores will be based on the average of the matches played (see the Summer Format and Scoring section for more details).
