arranging matches

Flixible Match Arrangements

Prior to the comencement of matches at the start of each tournament, all players will be sent the contact details (email and phone numbers) for their 4 opponents. As soon as you have receieved your opponents details, you are free to contact your opponents to find a mutually convenient date on which to meet and play your match.

The responsibility to arrange matches rests equally with all players in any given match. All matches must be played by the deadline specified for each tournament and results returned by a seperate deadline (see the League Calendar for dates). Players failing to meet either of these deadlines will be disqualified.

There are no restrictions with regards to the order in which matches must be played. This gives players maximum flexibility with regards to organising their matches around their diaries throughout the event, as long as all 4 matches are complete and results returned by the closing deadlines.

Avoiding Problems

We recommend that players try to arrange and play their matches as soon as possible and not leave any matches until the remaining weeks of the tournament in question as this increases the chances of matches not being completed.

If you are having problems getting your opponent(s) to arrange and play a match, please notify the UK Championships organisers as soon as possible.

Players should ensure that they give thorough consideration with regards to what times are suitable for them to play matches and not to commit to a time that they may not be able to honour. For example, if you have a job that is likley to require you to work late to attend, for example, a meeting called at short notice, do not arrange a match after work.

Appraisal Process

All players will be asked to appraise their opponents with regards to their ability to arrange and complete matches in an efficient and timely manor. Players receiving consistantly poor appraisals for wasting other players time may be disqualified from the event. Please be be considerate and respectful when arranging matches and remember their time is as important as yours and nobody likes to be messed about by re-arranging matches.
