match WINNERS leagues

The 'Match Winners Leagues' provide opportunities for players to win at every stage of the tournament.

Even players who are out of contention for the County and National prizes after a few bad rounds still have everything to play for in their last matches.

What are the Match winners Leagues?

The 'Match Winners Leagues' are separate leagues, but all follow the same format. There is one league table for each match played within the tournament:

Match A Winners League
Match B Winners League
Match C Winners League
Match D Winners League

Entry into the 'Match Winners League' tables is awarded only to the winner of each individual match i.e. the highest scoring player (or pair).

scoring system

In contrast to the County and National Leagues which are based on the average scores of all your matches played, the winners of the 'Match Winners Leagues' are decided after each individual match and are based on the score from that match alone – similar to a club Stableford event but on a national scale. The Men's Pairs, Men's Singles, Ladies Pairs and Ladies Singles tournaments, each have their own 'Match Winners League' table.

As with the National League, the 'Match Winners Leagues' each have 4 handicap divisions. For example, the Match A Winners League table holds the score for every player's match A of every player (or pair) who won their match (i.e. had a higher Stableford score than their opponents) in the tournament, split across the 4 divisions.

Within each handicap division there are 3 winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd place). The winners are the players with the highest score within their handicap division.
